ESTHER LAVON BARR

Esther Lavon Barr died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Garden Chapel Funeral Home (Pella, IA) arranged the cremation, and a memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Newton on Saturday, June 4, at 2:30 p.m. A visitation will be held that day from 1 to 2:15 p.m.

Esther L. Miller was born in Searsboro on April 7, 1923, to Clyde and Marie Tish Miller. On Aug. 30, 1940, she married Owen W. Barr in Lancaster, Mo. She was a devoted wife and mother, and taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by her sons Ronald of Page, Ariz., and James of Reasnor, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter Lavon Dunker; and four brothers, Lloyd 'Bing,' Floyd, Claire, and Ivan.
