RITES SET FOR ELNORA MURK

Elnora L. Murk, 67, of 623 Main St., Grinnell, died Saturday, Aug. 24, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata, pastor of the Grinnell First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud, and pallbearers will be Don Hilligas, Roger Hines, Tom Parmley, Tony Peterson, Richard Phipps and Gean Tiedemann. Burial will be in the Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

The daughter of Frank Hiram and Gladys Forrester Reed, she was born Feb. 19, 1918, at Spring Valley, Minn. She attended the Spring Valley schools and Owatonna High School. She came to Grinnell in 1943.

Mrs. Murk was a cook for several Grinnell restaurants, among them the former Rex Cigar Store, P&M Café, Pioneer Inn, Dixie Inn, The Three Elms, and the Longhorn for 16 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie McGinnis of Grinnell and Helen Hilligas of Brooklyn; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ray, George and Bob Reed of Grinnell and Dean Reed of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Mary Reavis of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, LaVonne Gayle and Joyce Ann Murk, both in infancy; two brothers, Harold and Lloyd Reed; and two sisters, Frances and Pauline Reed.
