MILDRED REIMERS

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 2, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn, for Mrs. Mildred Reimers, 84, of Brooklyn, who died Saturday night, Oct. 30, 1999, in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Herb Knudten, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Malcom, officiated, and also offered the vocal selections, "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful Savior." The organist was Marilyn Kriegel.

Casket bearers were Eric Reimers, Bryan Reimers, Henry Reimers, Scott Reimers, Chad Reimers and David McConnell. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.

Mildred Mae McConnell Reimers, daughter of Daniel Andrew McConnell Sr. and Nellie Mae Smith McConnell was born Sept. 15, 19195, on a farm in rural Malcom.

Mildred received her education in a rural school and graduated from the Brooklyn High School. On Jan. 4, 1935, she was married to Harley O. Reimers in the Methodist church parsonage at Grinnell. They farmed in Sheridan and Madison townships and retired in 1970, moving into Brooklyn.

Mildred was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, rural Malcom. She was a former member of Madison Homemakers, and helped with 4-H. She was a paint demonstrator for Tri-Chem.

She was preceded by her husband on May 31, 1985; one son, Harry; and a grandson, Lance.

Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Reid and her husband, Ernie, of Birch Bay, Wash., and Anna Twiselton and her friend, Lyle Harvey, of Lake Zurich, Ill.; two sons and their wives, Franklin and Fern Reimers, and John and Arlene Reimers, all of Malcom; one brother, Daniel McConnell Jr. of Brooklyn; two sisters, Alice Miller of Toledo, and Opal Swatosh of Grinnell; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.
