DIES AT 80

Word has been received by Grinnell relatives of the death on March 18 of Proctor K. Osborn, a former Grinnell resident. He died at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. He was 80 years of age and died of emphysema and complications.

The deceased was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. James Osborn, the former member of the staff of Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Mr. Osborn was the youngest of three sons and graduated from North High School in Des Moines, and attended Drake University.

Mr. Osborn came to Grinnell to work as a body and fender man and was a partner of Charles Hink prior to World War I. Upon his return from France, he married Mary Rule, and the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1971.

During World War II, he worked in the defense plant at Ankeny, then moved to California to work for the U.S. Navy on submarines at Hunter's Point.

Mr. Osborn is survived by his wife, Mary, two daughters, and three grandchildren.

Katherine and Rosemonde Rule and Mrs. Margaret Connor of Grinnell are sisters-in-law of the deceased, and Harold and Alta Buck of rural Grinnell are cousins.
