SERVICES TODAY

Mildred Elizabeth Wilson, 55, wife of George Wilson, died suddenly Thursday, Sept. 3, at her home in West Point, Iowa.

She was born on Sept. 3, 1915, in Grinnell, the daughter of Dana and Ruth Beeler McDowell. She attended the Grinnell public schools. On Aug. 6, 1931, she was married to George W. Wilson in Lancaster, Mo., and they farmed south of Grinnell. They later moved to Grinnell where Mr. Wilson operated a TV repair business. Recently they moved to West Point, where Mr. Wilson is a TV technician for Sears.

Mrs. Wilson was a member the Church of God and the Ladies L.W.W.B. of the church.

She is survived by her husband George; her mother, Mrs. Ruth Beeler Garwood of Grinnell; five sons, James of Newton, Virgil of Rochelle, Ill., Max of Washington, Pa., George of Platteville, Wisc., and Michael at home; three daughters, Mrs. Tarry (Mary) Petty of Decatur, Ill., Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Crawford Jr. of Waverly, and Linda Wilson at home; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Dhondt of Newton and Mrs. Hollis (Addie) Elliott of Grinnell; one brother, Max McDowell of Pittsburg, Calif.; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Richard Lee Wilson (who died in infancy); a brother, Virgil McDowell; and a grandson, David Dean Petty (who also died in infancy).

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson were held at 10:30 this morning (Tuesday) at the Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Assembly of God Church here; the Rev. V.B. Rains, pastor of the Church of God in Des Moines; and the Rev. Gary Baugh, pastor of the Church of God at West Burlington, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Joyce James, and vocalist was Yvonne Rains. Pallbearers included Richard Crawford Jr., Larry Petty, Bill Wilson, Jim Wilson, Max Wilson, Mike Wilson and Virgil Wilson.

Burial was in Westfield Cemetery.
