MR. MCCONNELL RITES ARE HELD

Daniel McConnell Sr., 94, of Brooklyn died Monday, March 5, at the Brookhaven Nursing Home.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn, with the Rev. Raymond D. Moore officiating. Organist was Sybil Kelley, and vocalist was William Korns. Pallbearers were John Hall, Arthur Keller, George Baustian, Raymond Cadden, Lavern Lidtka and Maynard Lang.

Burial was in the Haven Cemetery, rural Tama, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The son of Joseph Finley and Mary Idella Edgington McConnell, he was born Aug. 19, 1889, near Malcom. He attended rural schools in Sheridan and Madison Townships. On Aug. 20, 1914, he was married to Nellie Mae Smith in Brooklyn. They farmed in Madison Township until 1973 when they moved to Grinnell. Mrs. McConnell died in 1975, and Mr. McConnell later became a resident of the Brookhaven Nursing Home.

He is survived by one son, Daniel; three daughters, Mildred Reimers of Brooklyn, Alice Miller of Toledo and Opal Swatosh of Grinnell; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and one granddaughter.
