ART WADSWORTH
DIES SUDDENLY

Passed Away Wednesday Evening at
9:00 o'clock at the Home of
His Parents.

"ART" WAS ENDEARED TO
THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY

Was Splendid Type of American Boy-
hood; Funeral Held This After-
noon at 2:00.

Grinnell people who knew Arthur Wadsworth, were immeasurably saddened Thursday morning by news of his death at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Wadsworth, on Main street. His sudden passing came as a result of an attack of acute laryngitis and after a short period of suffering he died at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday evening, in spite of all that loving hands, and medical aid could do for him.

"Art" was endeared to the entire community, and few people, of any age, will be missed more than he. His bright face, friendly smile, and wholly lovable nature made for him a host of friends and admirers, whose friendship and admiration have been tinged with a deeper affection and who loved him almost as their very own.

Sturdy, handsome, unusually intelligent, "Art" always been a great favorite. He was a splendid type of wholesome, healthy American boyhood, and as an acrobat, he showed marked ability. In recent years, as the official mascot of high school and college baseball teams, "Art" made several trips with the athletes and his performance between periods of the game made him well known in many cities of the state.

As a page in the senate "Art" attracted much attention and many of the men high in state affairs knew him and praised his ability in this capacity. Letters of condolence have been received by the parents, from many of whom Arthur was endeared. News of his death was heard with genuine regret throughout the state.

However great and unusual was Arthur's popularity abroad the summons of death falls heaviest on his mother and father and brothers and sisters. Their affection and their grief was shared by all, but his smile can never again gladden the household, the sunny, lovable boy who was, after all, their boy, is gone. Arthur was a good boy--a boy who promised to develop into a splendid type of manhood, and in his short years had shown those qualities which can never die and which will remain forever to console and comfort.

The obituary follows:

Arthur Theodore Wadsworth was born at Grinnell, Iowa, August 10, 1910, to James M. and Mary E. Wadsworth and died November 5, 1924, aged 14 years, 2 months, and 26 days. His home has always been in Grinnell, where he received his schooling. He united with the local Christian church, when he was about nine years old. During these years he has made a host of friends by his open, winning personality and his thoroughly trustworthy character. Arthur will be sadly missed among many circles.

His going brings the first break in the family circle. There remain to cherish his memory three sisters, and three brothers, Mrs. Rena Quella, Miss Nell Wadsworth, Mrs. Wilma Boyd, Lawrence Wadsworth, Paul Wadsworth and Carl Wadsworth.

Many friends gathered today to express their own sorrow and to offer deepest sympathy to the family in their grief. The first golden link has been forged in the chain which binds this earthly home to the home in heaven.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Charles A. Carman assisted by Rev. W.B. Wilson, were held this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Baptist church. Music was furnished by the organ and a male quartet, composed of David Peck, Homer Dawkins, Cecil Myers and C.A. Carman.

Pallbearers were chosen from among the boy friends who knew him best. They were: Avery Adkins, Ernest Garner, Delbert Adkins, Verne Nelson, Obie King, and William Smith.
