BARBARA JANE HAVEL

Barbara Jane Havel, 54, of Grinnell died August 27, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell with Pastor Kathy Roys officiating. Soloists were Sylvia Visser and Tom O'Reilly. Pallbearers were Nick Dufoe, Colton, Craig and Jim Havel, Mike Ledvina and Mark Paulson. Honorary bearers were her nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muscatine.

Visitation was held from 12:00 p.m. t 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or Windsor Manor in Grinnell.

Barbara was born May 13, 1960, in Muscatine, the daughter of Fredric Louis and Mittie Cathleen Jenkins England. She lived in Muscatine during her early childhood and moved with her family to Grinnell in 1969. She was a 1978 graduate of Grinnell High School and attended Marshalltown Community College.

On Jul 24, 1982, she was united in marriage with Stanley Havel at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell where she was employed with St. Francis Manor and the Mayflower Community, and from 1994 to 2011, she was an owner/operator at Godfather's Pizza. She later ran childcare from her home, "Country Kids," for several years and was employed at Theisen's retail store. More recently, she was employed at Windsor Manor in Grinnell.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was also confirmed.

Barbara held a passion for photography! She loved any type of camera and making people happy with her photo taking. She was very caring, loved kids and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She held a strong work ethic, was persistent and was very good with people. "Everyone knew Barb!"

Survivors include her husband, Stanley of Grinnell; her father, Fred England of Grinnell; two sons, James Havel and Craig Havel of Grinnell; four siblings, Mark (Jerri) England of Omaha, Crayola (Carrie) England of Des Moines, Mitzi (Duane) Dufoe of Grinnell and Michael England of Grinnell; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mittie "Cathy" England.
