TIM LONGMAN

Tim Longman, 18, of 1839 Reed St., Grinnell, died Thursday, July 20, of injuries he received in a vehicle accident while vacationing with friends in LeCanon, France.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Monday at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames, with the Rev. Cynthia McCalmont officiating. The Adams Funeral Home of Ames was in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell. Visitation with the family will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials in his name may be sent in care of Brenton National Bank in Grinnell.

He was the son of Mary Beth Oostenbrug and Lance Longman and was born June 10, 1976, in Ames. He graduated from Grinnell High School this spring and was planning to attend Iowa State University this fall to study architectural engineering.

While in school here in 1994-95 he had worked part time in sales at Wal Mart. He had been a participant in church groups, played guitar and enjoyed art, computers and fishing. He lettered in track and, while attending school in Ames, played in the junior high band.

He is survived by his mother, a resident of Ames; his father, who lives in Grinnell; three brothers, Lucas of Grinnell and Jeffrey and Douglas, both of Ames; and his grandparents, Chuck and Mary Oostenbrug of Sanborn and Malinda Longman of Sac City.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Forest Longman.

A memorial will be established at a later date.
