Mary Hunsaker, 80, of 516 West St., Grinnell, died Wednesday evening, March 4, at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Briggs, pastor of the Grinnell First Friends Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Van Davis Jr., Duane Kern, Don Lender, Bob Mattson, Ed Rutledge and Walter Tish. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.
The daughter of Stanley and Elizabeth Tomasky, she was born March 19, 1900, at Vulcan, Mich. She was married to Joe Hunsaker Jr. on March 7, 1924, at Alexander, S.D. Following their marriage, they lived at Dimick, S.D. and Sioux Falls, S.D., and later operated a restaurant at Green City, Mo. They moved to Grinnell in 1941.
Mrs. Hunsaker is survived by her husband; a daughter, Helen Sumpter of Grinnell; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and a sister. Anna Meehan of Milwaukee, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty Lou Hunsaker, who died in infancy; five brothers and three sisters.
