VERNON CRAIG

Vernon R. Craig, 89, of Hartwick, died May 19, in the Belle Plaine Care Center after a long illness. Services were 1:30 p.m., May 23 at Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Survivors include a brother, Merle of Hartwick, and a sister, Lucille Synder of Iowa City.

Also surviving are a daughter-in-law Jane Craig of Hartwick; grandchildren, Janet Gebert of Cedar Rapids, Susie Guyer of Williamsburg, Scott Craig of Brooklyn and David Craig of Ladora; and nine great-grandchildren.

Vernon Raymond Craig was born Nov. 27, 1905 near Hartwick, the son of Frank and Edith Roberts Craig. He was graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1925.

On Aug. 22, 1935, he was married at Belle Plaine to Gladys Kenner. She passed away June 28, 1976.

Craig spent his life farming in the Hartwick area. He was a member of the Church of Christ United Methodist Chursh in Belle Plaine.

Pallbearers at the May 23 service were Scott Craig, David Craig, Jeff Gilbert, Curt Guyer, Jack Miller and Lyle Gates.
