MELANIE ARMSTRONG BELCHER

Melanie Armstrong Belcher, 56, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at her residence.

A graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15 in the Lakeview Section of Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with the Rev. Brian Chitwood officiating.

Melanie was born the daughter of Melvin Harold Armstrong and Viola Marene Ruble Armstrong on Dec. 15, 1954, in Grinnell, and was raised and educated here.

She married Jackson Earl Belcher on July 4, 1975, in Juarez, Mexico. The couple lived in Texas and then moved to Grinnell; the marriage ended in 1977. Later she met Daniel Leroy Rubendall who she was with from 1977-2002 and the couple resided in Grinnell. Melanie was a homemaker until early 2011 when she started working at Progressive Industries in Newton.

Her family was very special to her, and she also held a special love for animals, especially her dog and companion Taffy. She enjoyed the group outings with her friends at the Station Clubhouse and special times the family enjoyed with her at Adventureland.

Melanie is survived by her children, Colin Belcher of Orlando, Fla., Ashley Rubendall of Grinnell, and Lindsey Duncan of Marion, Ohio; four grandchildren; and her siblings, Ginger Sterk of Grinnell, Steven Armstrong of Covington, Wash., Tim Armstrong of Grinnell, and Crystal Wahl of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
