LEONA M. TOKLE

Leona Mae Tokle, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, at St. Francis Manor where she had been a resident.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Hulsebus of Montezuma officiating. Organist will be Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers will be Robert Cox, Richard Lowry, Alfred Steen, Roger Stewart and Bruce and Ray Tokle. Honorary bearers will be Carl Boget, Myron Esler, Earl Holtz, Tom Lowry, Dennis Lynch and Delmar Stewart. Burial will be in Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ewart Presbyterian Church.

The daughter of Ernest M. and Margaret Hamilton Cox, she was born July 21, 1906, on the farm of her parents south of Ewart. She received her early education in Ewart and was a 1924 graduate of Grinnell High School. She was married June 2, 1928, in Oskaloosa to Ole Tokle. She taught rural school near Ewart for several years and with her husband farmed in the Blue Point neighborhood for many years. She moved to Grinnell in 1981 and most recently had been a resident of St. Francis Manor.

She is survived by two sisters Irene Laughlin, Grinnell, and Pauline Holtz, Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Helen Hinojos, Hazel Lynch and Mildred Minnis; and one brother Harold Cox.
