MRS. C. HINK
PASSES AWAY

Henericka Friedericka Miller, was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, on the 18th day of May, 1853. She came from Germany with her parents when 14 years old. Her parents located at Kellogg, Iowa, and here in this vicinity she grew to womanhood. On March 16, 1875, she was given in marriage to Carsten Hink, after which union they settled on a farm in Chester Township. To this union eight children were born, of whom seven are living, a son, Otto, having passed away in infancy. On Oct. 7, 1903, the family circle was saddened when her husband passed away. In 1909? she moved to Grinnell, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ewart Clark. She remained in Grinnell until Dec. 1926, when she accompanied the Clark family to Ladysmith, Wis. When the Clark family returned to Grinnell last fall, Mrs. Hink chose to remain at Ladysmith. She took up her abode with her son Will where she was at the time of her death.

Mrs. Hink was a member of the Lutheran Church in which faith she was confirmed at the age of 14. She loved her Church and lived a true Christian life, fulfilling well her calling as wife and mother. While residing in Chester Township she was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Malcom. Though her removal to Grinnell made it inconvenient for her to attend services as often as she would have liked, she did not permit this circumstance to hinder her spiritual growth; she had her own devotional literature which she used diligently and from which she derived much spiritual strength and comfort.

The deceased reached the age of 75 years, 3 months and 7 days. The announcement of her passing was a severe and unexpected blow to both relatives and friends as she was enjoying the best of health, never having suffered from any real serious affliction all her life. Her sudden death was caused by heart trouble. She was ill only a few moments, departing from this life last Friday morning, Jan. 20, at about 6:30. Our sympathy goes out to those who mourn her loss. She is survived by her seven children: Henry and Albert of Jump River, Wis., Carsten of Louisiana, George of Maple Park, Ill., Mrs. Ewart Clark of Grinnell, Mrs. Frieda Wright of Omaha, Nebr.; and sixteen grandchildren.

"God calls our loved ones, but we
lose not wholly
What He hath given,
They live on earth, in thought and
deed, as truly
as in His heaven."

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 25. Interment was made at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery of Malcom beside her husband, Pastor Geo. F. Dirks officiating. Those attending the funeral from a distance were as follows: Will Hink, Ladysmith, Wis.; George Hink, Maple Park, Ill.; Mrs. Frieda Wright, Omaha, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Will Bobsin, Montour; and Mr. and Mrs. Orval Shipley, Gilman. Pall bearers were James Boettger, Herman Ewoldt, William Ahrens, Henry Ahrens, Charles Hink and Walter Hink.
