HAROLD MURPHY DIES TUESDAY

Harold D. Murphy, 71, of Rte. 2, Malcom, died Tuesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus Reitz, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Organist will be Margaret Amo, and vocalist will be Gordon Van Donselaar. Pallbearers will be Ronald DeBondt, Dale Emmert, Donald Hull, Duane Larsen, Merland Pfantz and Gail Wheeler. Honorary bearers will be Raymond Bangham, John Fuerst, Louis Ford, Laverne Morrison and William Morrison.

Burial will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Grinnell General Hospital's coronary care unit.

The son of Frederick and Lena Olson Murphy, he was born May 1, 1909, near Malcom. He attended rural school near the family farm and later attended Malcom High School. He had lived near Malcom all his life. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge in Grinnell.

He is survived by his sister, Ruth J. Murphy of rural Malcom. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Raymond Murphy; and a sister, Gladys Wisecarver.
