MABEL MURPHY

Mrs. Mabel Murphy, 89, of Brooklyn, died Friday noon, May 12, at Brookhaven Nursing Home

Services for Mrs. Murphy were Monday, May 15, 1989, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. Joseph Rogers, Pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, officiated. The organist was Mrs. Nina Bartachek. Casket-Bearers were Ray Verdeck, Maynard Saylor, Don Brannian, Stanley Walford, Donald Coburn Sr. and Gene Bartachek. Interment was in Brooklyn Cemetery.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her son, James D. Murphy and his wife Ann of Marion and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Murphy was preceded by her parents, her husband who died in 1957, three brothers, and one sister.

Mabel Johnston Murphy, daughter of Fred K. Johnston and Mary Ann Cassidy Johnston, was born Oct. 22, 1899, at Montezuma. She received her education in Montezuma rural schools. Mrs. Murphy was united in marriage to Henry Murphy Jan. 11, 1928, in Brooklyn. Mrs. Murphy was a cook for the Brooklyn School for a number of years and was a cook at the Brooklyn Café.

Following graveside services a funeral Mass was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
