MRS. ADAMSON SERVICES HELD

Sophia Adamson, 82, of 802 Park St., Grinnell, died Wednesday afternoon at Grinnell General Hospital following a week's illness.

Services for Mrs. Adamson were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home eastside facility, with the Rev. James Russell, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Harold Duffus. Pallbearers were Delmar Adkins, Tony Baker, Kenneth Kramer, James Jensen, G.L. "Bud" Smothers, and Bob Wilkins.

Graveside services were conducted at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Hayden and Mary Piper Yeager, she was born Feb. 23, 1896, in Van Buren County near Cantril. She attended schools at Cincinnati, Iowa, and was graduated from Cincinnati High School. She later attended Cedar Falls Teachers College and taught in several rural schools.

On Sept. 22, 1926, she was married to Carl R. Adamson at Unionville, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Adamson lived near Cincinnati until 1936 when they came to Grinnell. Mrs. Adamson was employed at Grinnell College, McNally's, Brown's Bakery, and Kramer Jewelry. She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had also been a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Sue) Baker of Grinnell, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, in 1957; and six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Ella Hibbs, Mrs. Oral (Laura) Patterson, Mrs. Nellie Buckley, and three in infancy.
