MARNA E. DAVIS, 83

Marna E. Davis, 83, of Montezuma, died Saturday, March 29, at her home in Montezuma.

Her funeral service was Monday, March 31, at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the Rev. George Salnave officiating. Burial was in the Masonic-I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Montezuma.

She was born July 14, 1919, near Barnes City in Mahaska County, the daughter of Henry and Della Mahaffey Ahlsclager. She graduated from the Barnes City High School with the Class of 1936. She was united in marriage to Thurman M. Davis on Sept. 13, 1937, at Centerville, and he died on Jan. 10, 2000. She lived in Montezuma most of her life and was a homemaker. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 113 in Montezuma until its closing. She enjoyed gardening, camping, bluegrass music and flowers.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ferns of Gibson; two sons and their wives, Merle and Jan Davis of Bettendorf and Marvin and Nellie Davis of Sully. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Mable and Lauren Henry of Montezuma.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Ahlsclager and two sisters, Nina Spake and Ruth Watts.
