RITES CONDUCTED

The Funeral Mass for Victor M. Vogel, 81, of Brooklyn was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Brooklyn. Mr. Vogel died Monday evening, Jan. 28, in Sarasota, Fla., where he and his brother, the Rev. L.J. Vogel, were vacationing.

Celebrant of the mass was the Rev. L.J. Vogel, and concelebrants were the Revs. Karl Holtkamp, Harry Linnenbrink, Joseph Fath and Eugene Hoenig.

Master of ceremonies was the Rev. William Olson, and organist was Francis Kriegel. Honorary pallbearers were Leslie Mehlin, William Kriegel, Gerald Kriegel, Melvin Kriegel, Howard Brimmer, Alfred Robey, Owen Wenger and Lawrence Lang. Pallbearers were Jim Vogel, Richard Vogel, Mike Vogel, Jeff Vogel, David Vogel and Nick Vogel. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.

The son of Nick and Elizabeth Maschino Vogel, he was born Aug. 17, 1903, near Victor. The family moved to a farm north of Malcom when he was young. He received his education at St. John's School in Victor and at rural schools.

On May 21, 1938, Mr. Vogel was married to Marea Dorothy Holoubek in Iowa City. They farmed north of Malcom until 1975 when they moved to Brooklyn.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Grange, in which he held local offices. He was also active in the Democratic Party and was a former member of the Farmers Union and NFO.

Survivors include four brothers, Frank of Malcom, Charles of Grinnell, Lawrence of Brooklyn and Louis of Riceville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two adopted sons, Stanley and Joseph; one sister, Elizabeth; and one brother, the Rev. Raymond Vogel.
