DELMAR F. PETERS

Delmar F. Peters, 77, formerly of Montezuma, died Jan. 1 at his home in Phoenix, Ariz. Memorial services were conducted Jan. 5.

He was born on a farm in Poweshiek County and attended Montezuma schools, graduating from high school in 1935.

He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was a B-29 pilot stationed in Saipan. He flew 33 bombing missions over Japan and was awarded eight Asiatic Theater ribbons.

He was married to Paula Ryan of Grinnell in 1945. They moved to Arizona to level desert land for a producer of fruits and vegetables. Mr. Peters also worked for Standard Oil and, later, Atlantic Richfield Co., retiring in 1973 due to ill health. He suffered a major stroke in 1990.

Mr. Peters is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
