GAYE POWELL, 80

Gaye Powell, 80, of Lake Ponderosa passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grinnell Hospice. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gaye Powell was born February 19, 1931 in Roberts, Idaho, the daughter of Ellsworth and Roma (Jensen) Jardine. She was a 1948 graduate of the Butte High School in Arco, Idaho. On September 11, 1949 she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Powell in Arco, Idaho. The couple moved to Des Moines and later purchased property at Lake Ponderosa. Gaye was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Gaye will be remembered as a private yet loving, forgiving and selfless person to the ones who knew her best.

She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Donnalee Powell and her husband, Donald Powell.

Gaye is survived by her three children, Gary Powell of Los Angeles, CA; Marty Powell and Merilyn Romoff both of Montezuma; six brothers: Ronnie Jardine, Marvin Jardine, Fred Jardine, Harold Jardine, Darrell Jardine and Randy Jardine; four sisters: Joyce Ousley, Romalee Taylor, Linda Nelson and Elaine Jardine. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Erika Flores, Dallas Powell, Blair Ahrens, Ashley Perkins, Morgan Powell and Evan Romoff. Her life was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Ericson Flores, Mackenzie Flores, Chanelyn Flores, Brooklyn Flores, Ronan Powell, Mila Powell, Karsen Ahrens and Kaiden Perkins.
