RANKIN WALKUP

Sara Pauline Rankin Walkup, 35, of Princeton, Mo., and formerly of Lineville, died Thursday, Sept. 1 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

A memorial service was held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, with Pastor Leroy Perkins officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.

Sara was born Dec. 14, 1975, in Grinnell, to Dennis Wells and Carla Dean Clark Rankin. She was raised in Lineville and graduated from Lineville-Clio High School with the class of 1994, then worked at the Lamoni Youth Shelter.

She was united in marriage with Samuel Eldon Walkup on May 5, 2001, in Lineville. She was a homemaker and also ran Sara's Home Day Care for three years.

Sara was an active member of the Lineville United Methodist Church, the Princeton Mother's Club, and the Princeton PTO. She and Sam coached little league tee ball for five years. She also enjoyed scrap booking in her free time.

Survivors include her husband Sam Walkup and their children, Wil, Emma, and Max, all of Princeton; parents, Dennis and Carla Rankin of Lineville; brothers Jason Rankin of Merriam, Kan., and Nathan Rankin of New Virginia; her maternal grandparents Dick and Marilyn Clark of Grinnell; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gerald and Pauline Rankin.
