LOA I. TARVIN

Mrs. Loa I. Tarvin, 86, of Brooklyn, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn.

Funeral services for Loa Tarvin were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. George Salnave, Pastor of the Montezuma Presbyterian Church, officiated. The organist was Marilyn Kriegel and a special selection was "Nearer My God To Thee." Honorary casket-bearers were Daryl Dyer and Darrell Heishman. Casket-bearers were Lyle Bauman, Jr., Don Brannian, Maynard Saylor and Steve Link. Interment was in Pleasant Township Cemetery at Ewart.

Loa Ilene Sanders Tarvin, daughter of LeRoy and Velda Shaw Sanders was born April 18, 1914, in Malcom, Ia. Loa graduated from Malcom High School in 1935.

On Sept. 29, 1937, Loa was united in marriage to Clark Phillip Tarvin at Lancaster, Mo. They moved to Brooklyn in 1958.

Loa and Clark operated a restaurant in Montezuma and Flomar Restaurant and Gambles Store in Brooklyn. Mr. Tarvin died Dec. 21, 1978 and Loa continued to live in Brooklyn and in recent years was a resident of Brookhaven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Tarvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Tri-C's and the Women's Business Club.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Hayes and husband Richard of Ankeny; two sons and their wives, Jerry and Joyce Tarvin of Williamsburg and Clark Jr. and Nancy Tarvin of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.
