DR. GREENWALD DIES IN FLORIDA

Dakotah U. Greenwald, professor emeritus, educator and author, died at the age of 75 July 13 at Morton F. Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla.

The son of Lena and Samuel Greenwald, he was born in Jamestown, N.D., on July 6, 1910. He was raised in New Hampton. On Feb. 23, 1935, he was married to Myrna Catherine Ideker of LeMars.

After graduating from Grinnell College and earning additional degrees at the University of Iowa, including an M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology and a B.S. in mechanical engineering, he assumed teaching duties as associate professor of engineering at the University of Delaware.

During World War II, Dr. Greenwald served as chief engineer of Triumph Incorporated, a major manufacturer of munitions. After the war he taught industrial engineering at Syracuse University. In 1957-58, he lectured on industrial production management at Finland's Helsinki Technical Institute.

A licensed professional engineer, he held memberships in Tau Beta Pi Sigma Xi, the American Society for Engineering Education, the American Association of University Professors, and the Curriculum Committee of the Syracuse University Senate.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna I. Greenwald of Clearwater; two daughters, Susan Sayre of Tokyo, Japan, and Janice Smith of Riverhead, N.Y.; a son, William of Sligerlands, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, William Geyer Greenwald of Grinnell.
