Raymond F. Bahrenfuse, 64, who farmed in the Westfield community, died Thursday, Jan.3, at his home of an apparent heart attack while caring for livestock.
Although his remains were not discovered until Saturday, Jasper County Medical Examiner Fred Carpenter, D.O., ruled that death occurred shortly afternoon on Thursday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with Raymond Standerwick, pastor of the Westfield Community Church, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner. Burial will be in the Westfield Cemetery.
The son of Frank H. and Anna Prosser Bahrenfuse, the was born in Grinnell on May 9, 1920. He was raised in the Montezuma, Gilman and Grinnell areas.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he was married to Kathleen Beatrice Johnson on May 11, 1946, at Deep River.
Survivors include his brother, Clair E. Bahrenfuse of Rte. 2, Kellogg, and one sister, Edith Lucille Lee of Riverton, Wyo. He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 4, 1984; his parents; and two brothers, Ralph and Harold, in infancy.

Funeral services for Raymond F. Bahrenfuse, 64, who died at his farm Friday, Jan. 4, were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home.
Raymond Standerwick of the Westfield Community Church officiated. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Lowell Thompson, Harold Brown, Martin Pearce, Dick Saunders, Walter Richardson, James Peak, and Sidney Hunter. Burial was in Westfield Cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by members of the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit.
Memorials in Mr. Bahrenfuse's name may be made to the Westfield Cemetery Association.
