GWENITH GREENE ORR SHELDON, 89

CORTEZ--Gwenith Greene Orr Sheldon, 89, a longtime resident of Del Norte, died April 25, 2009 at her home in Cortez.

Born Dec. 16, 1919, in Lincoln, Neb., she was the youngest child of Dr. H. Winnett and *GRACE DOUGLASS ORR and the wife of the late Dr. Keith W. Sheldon.

She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She remained a loyal "Huskers" supporter.

"Gweny" was a long-time volunteer at St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary in Colorado Springs and the Rio Grande County Museum in Del Norte. She loved gardening, bird feeding, antiques and researching the family history.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Douglass O. and Brian P.

Survivors include a daughter Allison L. (Ric Dudley) Sheldon of Fort Collins and sons, Kevin W. Jr. of Gello, Norway, Matthew B. (Debra) of Cortez, Bruce W. of Crestone and Steven A. of Center, as well as four grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen and the cremains will be placed in the family plot at the Del Norte Cemetery at a later date, with graveside services to be announced.

Donations may be made in her name to the Rio Grande County Museum in Del Norte.
