GERALDINE (JERRY) R. STANFORD, 78

Geraldine (Jerry) R. Stanford, 78, of Montezuma, died Friday, June 11, 2004 at Grinnell Regional Hospital.

Her memorial service was Monday, June 14, at the United Methodist Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Howard Lord officiating.

Jerry was born June 29, 1925, in rural Poweshiek County to Elzy and Sarah Leona (Simpson) Harry. She attended school in Montezuma. On April 27, 1946, she was united in marriage with Mayo Stanford at Oskaloosa. To this union, five children were born. Geraldine was a homemaker and she worked at Sig Manufacturing for 22 years.

She is survived by her sister Pauline (Polly) Bernard and her husband Bill, and sister-in-law Mary Harry, and her children and their spouses: Judith Ann and Bruce Roorda of Montezuma, (grandchildren Lynne and Mark Yontz with great grandchild Paige Marie, John Roorda and Jason Roorda), Jo Beth and Phil Paulsen of Aurora, Mo., (grandchildren Stacy and April Paulsen with great grandchildren Hailey and Courtney, Molly and Jason Ernest with great grandchild Emily, and Margo Paulsen), Jeff and Debby Stanford of Montezuma (grandchildren Chad and Sue Stanford, Bryan Stanford, Amy and Ryan Higgins with great grandchildren Keegan, Tyler, CJ, and Kirsten), Paula Kay Williams of Loveland, Colo. (grandchild Jennifer Lynne Williams) and Barry John and Tracy Stanford of Grinnell (grandchildren Nick and Brady) and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Mayo, brothers Raymond and William Harry, sister Arlene Stanley, and sister-in-law, Hazel Harry.
