BETTY J. AHRENS

Betty J. Ahrens, 77, of 1402 Elm St., Grinnell, died Monday, Oct. 18, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church will officiate. Pianist will be Betty Ann Battey, and casket bearers will be Ed Ahrens, Dennis Anderson, Leona Chase, Chad Hauser, Dusty Hauser, Steve O'Connor, Randy Taylor and Bill Tinkle. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The family will be present at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

She was the daughter of Leland and Elma Wyngarden Taylor and was born July 18, 1922, in Grinnell. She was raised here and graduated from Grinnell High School.

On April 25, 1942, she was married to Milo William "Bill" Ahrens in Yakima, Wash. They lived in Grinnell and operated a meat butcher service. Mrs. Ahrens also worked as a secretary at Cargill Seed Corn Co. for over 42 years.

She was a member of the Grinnell Lady Elks and a charter member of the VFW.

Surviving are a daughter, Becky Hauser of Grinnell; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Grinnell Elks Lodge.
