DIED, at her residence in Alta, Iowa, Monday, April 6, 1888, Mrs. S.G. Stout, 50 years, 12 days. Hannah E. Bearnes was born in Amsterdam, Licking Co., Ohio, April 5, 1838. When fifteen years of age she moved with her parents to Poweshiek Co., this state where on November 18, 1858, she was married to S.G. Stout. On the breaking out of the war of the rebellion Mr. Stout enrolled himself among the defenders of the union, his absence from home was a great affliction to Mrs. Stout. Her health failed and she has been an invalid ever since. For a number of years her death has been expected to occur at any time, but still seemed sad when it came, the courage and fortitude which she bore her infirmities and her kind disposition made warm friends of all who knew her. The funeral occurred Tuesday from the M.E. Church and was largely attended.
