MR. BURKLE DIES AT 51

Kenneth K. Burkle, 51, died Saturday morning, April 19, at the home of Howard and Jeanne Burkle, 1326 Broad St., following a lengthy illness of cancer. He had been a resident of Grinnell the past week during the final stages of his illness.

Memorial services will be held at a later date, and burial of his ashes will be at Monticello, Ark. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The son of Howard Russell and Crystal Lee Kizer Burkle Sr., he was born March 10, 1929, in Louisville, Ky. A graduate of the University of Maryland in 1950, he attended the Coast Guard Academy, serving during the Korean conflict.

Following his discharge, he began his professional career as a store manager for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He served the company in various capacities until 1970 when he was transferred to the company headquarters in Akron, Ohio, as assistant manager of the product service division.

He is survived by his brother, Howard, and a sister, Mrs. Anita Burkle Eagleton of Kentfield, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
