MRS. ROYCE SERVICES HELD TUESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Okey Royce were held Tuesday afternoon, March 28, at the Smith Funeral Home, Grinnell, with the Rev. Eugene Golay, pastor of the North Glendale (Calif.) Methodist Church officiating.

Music at the service was provided by Mrs. Keith Stahl, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Van Donselaar. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom with Francis (Bill) Ritter, Eldon Speas, Harold Hollmann, Carl Coffey, Paul Bacon and Clayton Tish serving as casket bearers.

Mrs. Royce, 74, of Phoenix, Arizona and Malcom, died Wednesday, March 22, at her home in Phoenix.

She was born March 24, 1892, at Ladd, Illinois. She was one of five children born to George and Lillian Moore Okey. Two brothers, Harry and Lewis, and two sisters, Ella and Edith preceded her in death.

Mrs. Royce graduated from Kewanee (Ill.) High School with the class of 1911; Northern Illinois State Teachers College at DeKalb, Ill., and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in August 1918, where she was an auditor and accountant for the government for 29 years.

On Dec. 15, 1945, she married Horace Judd Royce, a well known farmer living near Malcom. Shortly thereafter she retired from government service and went to Malcom to live on the farm owned by her husband. Her husband died June 1l, 1953. Mrs. Royce has since made Iowa her home in the summer months and lived in Phoenix during the winter months.

Mrs. Royce was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star and Past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs. Mrs. Royce was a member of the Congregational Church prior to her marriage. After her marriage she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian Church and after her husband's death she joined Central Methodist Church in Phoenix.

Mrs. Royce is survived by a few distant cousins.
