TRACY W. CAVES, 22

Tracy Wayne Caves, 22, of Montezuma, died Saturday, July 5, southeast of Montezuma. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8 at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. Officiating were Rev. Doug Smiley and Mr. Marvin Freeborn. Music was provided by Mrs. Eilene Smiley. Honorary casket bearers were Miles Caves, Jeff Linsted, Kenny Caves, Brent Linsted and Brice Pitman. Casket bearers were Doug Barnes, Jason Hatcher, Matt James, Corey Holland, Corey Cope, Matt Johannes, Preston Young and Daryl Pargeon. Burial was in the Barnes City Cemetery.

Tracy was born February 18, 1975 at Oskaloosa, the son of Mark and Carmen (Pitman) Caves. He graduated from Montezuma Community High School in 1993, where he excelled in athletics. He attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa for one year. He was currently working for Maytag in Newton. Tracy was affiliated with the Calvary Bible Church in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to fish, hunt and trap. He also like the farm and enjoyed raising livestock. He and his fiancée, Tiffany Holveck, are expecting a baby in November.

Tracy is survived by his parents, Mark and Carmen Caves of rural Montezuma; a sister and her husband, Rhonda and Jamie Bishop and their daughter, Jensen, of Indianola; a brother, Eric of rural Montezuma; his fiancée, Tiffany Holveck of Montezuma; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Shirley Pitman of Barnes City; and paternal grandparents, Jack and Elsie Caves of Oskaloosa; aunts and uncles; cousins; and other relatives and many friends.

A memorial fund has been established for Tracy and Tiffany's child to be born in November.
