William Stout worked as a lineman for the Iowa Southern Utilities for many years until he was partially disabled in 1928. He has shared his labor with several firms or organizations here in Grinnell the rest of his life.

On November 16, 1949, he was married to Ina Hagen, and this companionship continued until her death in 1956, following a long illness. In addition to those mentioned, he is preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sy (Irene) Holland and Mrs. Frank (Olga) Mitchell, both of Grinnell, one son, Wm. A. Stout, Jr., Chicago, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; also three sisters, Mrs. May Hart, Seymour, Ia., Mrs. Opal Collier, Centerville, Ia., and Mrs. Maggie Dodson, Coatsville, Mo., and one brother, Arnold Stout, Davenport, Iowa, nieces, nephews, and the friends.
