FLORENCE CRAWFORD,
FORMER TEACHER,
DIES THIS MORNING

Florence Crawford, 72, of 710 8th Avenue, died this morning (Thursday) at a hospital in Des Moines following an extended illness.

Services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday from the First Congregational church with the Rev. Ralph Beebe officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View cemetery at Gilman with James-Schalinske Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of John D. and Elizabeth Montgomery Crawford and was born on Jan. 7, 1893, at Brooklyn. When she was a youngster her parents moved to a farm near Gilman and she attended the schools of that community.

She was a graduate of Gilman high school and Iowa State Teachers College. For a number of years she taught school in Grinnell and also was employed in Des Moines. She had made her home in Grinnell since July of 1955.

Miss Crawford was a member of the First Congregational church and the Omega Sigma Club.

She is survived by her two brothers, Walter of Grinnell and William L. of Melbourne. Her parents preceded her in death.
