ANNA K. STAUFFER, 102

Mrs. Anna K. Stauffer, 102, of Brooklyn, died Sunday night, Oct. 2, 0205, at Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn, Iowa.

Her funeral service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with the Rev. John Reynolds, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was at the Keota Cemetery, Keota.

Casket bearers were Lynn Stauffer, Tom Grier, Tim Shutts, Christopher Stauffer, Jim Shutts and Brian Schleisman.

Honorary casket bearers were Ryan Ellis, Brandon Steffensmeier, Greg Stauffer, Joshua Steffensmeier, Ely Stauffer, Jared Steffensmeier and Nathan Schleisman.

Anna Katherine Pokrantz Stauffer was born June 28, 1903, at Wellman, Iowa. Her parents were August H. Pokrantz and Anna Emde Pokrantz She received her education in a rural school. She married Samuel Long Stauffer on May 15, 1927, at the Lutheran parsonage in Wellman. They were the parents of four children, Gladys, Glen, Leonard and Elizabeth. They moved to Brooklyn in 1946. She was a homemaker and helped with the school lunch program. Mr. Stauffer died March 3, 1956, and Anna continued living in Brooklyn and, in recent years, she was a resident of Brooklyn Community Estates. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gems, South Side Circle and Gleeful Workers Club. Anna enjoyed gardening and embroidery.

Surviving are her two sons and their wives, Glen and Donna Stauffer of Brooklyn and Leonard and Rita Stauffer of Iowa Falls; a sister, Freda Miller, of Washington; eight grandchildren, Linda Ellis, Lynn Stauffer. Laurie Grier, Lisa Steffensmeier, Jim Shutts, Tim Shutts, Leslie Schleisman and Christopher Stauffer; 14 great-grandchildren, Amanda Ellis, Ryan Ellis, Mindy Rhoads, Heather Grier, Brandon Steffensmeier, Joshua Steffensmeier, Stacia Steffensmeier, Jared Steffensmeier, Jennifer Stauffer, Kristen Stauffer, Gregory Stauffer, Eli Stauffer, Nathan Schleisman and Taylor Schleisman.

Her husband; two daughter, Gladys Shutts and Elizabeth Ann Stauffer; two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

A memorial fund has been established.
