ANDREW K. TERPSTRA

Andrew K. Terpstra was born in Friesland, Holland, Feb. 19, 1848, and departed this life Jan. 22, 1918 at 9:40 p.m. at his home, six miles southwest of Grinnell, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 3 days. He came to America in 1871. He was united in marriage to Mary Hester Howell in November, 1873. To this union were born five children, Susie, Lillie, Anna, Sadie and Louie. Anna died in the year 1894.

His wife having died March 21, 1889, he was again united in marriage Nov. 25, 1892, to Jennie Klein. To this union were born six children, Jake, Anna, Gertie, John, Nellie and Dick. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, ten children, seven grand children and one brother, Dirk Terpstra, of Friesland, Holland. Four of the children, Anna, John, Nellie and Dick, are still at home. The others are: Lewis and Jake Terpstra, of Grinnell; Mrs. Fred Anderson and Mrs. H. Whitcomb, of Gowrie; Mrs. J.T. Whitcomb, of Rock Creek, and Mrs. Neil Heilkema, of Princeton, Minn. The wife and ten children were present at the bedside when the beloved one passed away.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him. Burial was in the Westfield Cemetery. Services at the church were held at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Robison, of Taintor.
