HALLIE MARTENS, 90

Hallie Martens, 90, of Hartwick, died on Friday, December 17, 2004, at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor with the Rev. Dennis Dorsheimer, pastor of the Jackson Church of Christ in Montezuma, officiating. Organist was Marilyn Kriegel. Casket bearers were Gary Hash, Christopher Hash, Craig Bean, Kenneth Martens, Jeremy Hendrickson and Jason Fordice. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Victor.

She was born on January 16, 1914, in Millersburg, Ky., to Roger and Anna (Turley) Feeback. In 1933, she graduated from Headquarters High School in Headquarters, Ky.

On February 14, 1939, she was married to Hallie Hash in Cynthiana, Ky., and to this union was born two children, Reta Lenore Hash and Gary Lee Hash.

Hallie later married Richard Martens of Hartwick on August 15, 1950. Hallie and her children moved to Iowa and resided with Richard and his son, Kenneth Richard Martens.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and loved cooking for them. She was also an outstanding seamstress.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Reta Martens of Chino Hills, Calif., Gary and Marsha Hash of Brooklyn, and Kenneth and Deania Martens of Marengo; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Haley and Richard Ebbink, Chris and Laurie Hash, Sara Hash, Misty Martens, Alicia and Craig Bean, and Jeremy Hendrickson; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ebbink, and Larissa and Derek Kasal.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands and her parents.
