Howard G. Hafkey, 67, of Grinnell, former Colfax resident, died Wednesday, April 23 at his home.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. The Rev. Daniel Ogata conducted the services. Burial was in Chester Cemetery, north of Grinnell.

Survivors are his wife, Mildred; a son, Jack E. of Barrington, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a granddaughter.

Mr. Hafkey was an agent for metropolitan Life Insurance Co., while residing in Jasper County.

The son of George and Lula Bean Hafkey, he was born Aug. 14, 1912 in Chester Township in Poweshiek Co., was a graduate of Grinnell High School in 1929 and attended a business college in Quincy, Ill.

He was married to Mildred Jordan May 12, 1933 in Rochester, Minn. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines (IA) Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News, Thurs 1 May 1980.
