July 14, 1986RITES HELD FOR GEORGE HANS
George T. Hans, 94, died Thursday, July 10, at the Vinton Lutheran Home where he had been a resident since November 1984.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist church in Grinnell, with graveside services at 2 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery.
The son of Harriet and George A. Mitchel Hans, he was born on Sept. 24, 1891, in Newton. He was married to Ethel Anderson on Feb. 1, 1922, in Newton.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hans was a farmer and cattle buyer. He was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hans lived in Grinnell for several years before moving to Vinton in 1978.
He is survived by a son, Eldon of Ames; a daughter, Shirley Johnson of Ohio; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1979, one brother and one sister.
