DOLLY M. PEARCE

Dolly M. Pearce, 63, of Grinnell, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 10, at the Grinnell Friends Church with Pastor Todd Follette officiating. Interment was at Westfield Cemetery near Grinnell.

Memorials may be designated to the Friends Church, Westfield Cemetery Association, Special Olympics, or Quakerdale, mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA50112. Memorials and condolences may be shared with her family at www.smithfh.com.

Dolly was born on July 8, 1950, in Grinnell to Thomas Daryl Eames and Alice Irene Mayo Eames. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1968.

She was united in marriage with Robert Andrew Pearce on July 3, 1969, at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell, and they had two sons. They operated a dairy farm in Grinnell for over 14 years and she also worked as a cook for the Grinnell School District, the Mayflower Community, Kellogg Café, and the Lynnville Café. She was a member of the Grinnell Dance Club and the Grinnell Friends Church, where she taught Bible school and Sunday school. She also was a substitute school bus driver for Bob at the Newton School District.

She loved being a farm wife and being at home to raise her sons. Dolly was very devoted to her family and to her church and its activities. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Pearce family reunions in California, Colorado and Canada; preparing meals from the hundreds of recipes she had in her library; and going to dances with Bob.

Dolly is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert Pearce of Grinnell; two sons, William S. Pearce of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Benjamin D. Pearce of Grinnell; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Barbara Callison of Blackfoot, Idaho, Nancy Whittenburg of Wyndmere, N.D., and Joyce Schlesser of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
