MRS. ROSS BROOKS FUENRAL HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Ross (Dorothy) Brooks were conducted by the Rev. Howard Hayes Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Montezuma Methodist Church. Miss Alice Underwood was the organist.

Casket bearers were Thomas Ross, Marcus Shearer, Hugh McMeekin, Joe Alexander, Harold Swanson and Richard Rabenold. Interment was at Masonic-IOOF Cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks, 68, died at her home in Montezuma Friday, Nov. 18.

The daughter of Mattie and Edward Lamb, Dorothy Brooks was born at Bussey, Iowa, on July 31, 1898. She attended school at Bussey until her family moved to a farm in Poweshiek County where she continued her education in a rural school and Montezuma High School.

On Sept. 23, 1916, she married Ross Brooks and to this union seven children were born. They established their home in Montezuma and maintained their residence here for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisrers, Mary and Ethel; and one brother, Roy.

She is survived by her husband; their seven children, Miss Jean brooks of Des Moines, Melbourne of Woodward, Iowa; Vivian Wallace of Fort Worth, Texas, Phillip of Brooklyn, Irene Fleming and Blair Brooks of Montezuma, Martha Sparks of Stanton, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ortensa Woods; and one brother, Phil Lamb.
