HELD TODAY FOR
ROBT. MCCONNELLMemorial services for Robert Lee McConnell of Grinnell, who died suddenly at his home early Saturday morning, were held this morning at the Smith Funeral Home.
The Rev. Leland W. Mann of Grinnell and the Rev. Paul A. Peterson of Mason City officiated at the services. Music was provided by Edward Bohstedt of Grinnell and Mrs. Roy Servison of Mason City.
Pallbearers were George Barrett, William Garffin, Monnie Mitchell, Lawrence Payne, LaVerne Sweiger, and Clarence Young. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Kuchenreuther, Eugene Murtaugh, Halbert Long and V.M. Parsons.
Masonic graveside services were conducted and burial was at Elmwood cemetery at Mason City.
Born at Spencer on Jan. 25, 1902, he was the son of Frank and Nell Stewart McConnell, both deceased. On August 20, 1923, he was united in marriage with Mary Glanville at Mason City.
Survivors include his wife and two children, Robert Lee and Mary, all of Grinnell, and two brothers, B.L. of Mason City and Charles of Des Moines. A brother John preceded him in death in 1955.
A resident of Grinnell since 1955, he came here from Algona. He was employed by Druggists Mutual Ins. Co. of Iowa and was a member of the Congregational church and the Masonic lodge.
He was a 1919 graduate of Mason City high school.
