RICHARD STEINKE, JR.

Richard L. Steinke, 76, died of cancer October 25 at his home, rural Brookyn.

Funeral services were to be held Nov. 1 at Belle Plaine with Rev. Toger Johnson of Victor officiating. Burial was to be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Richard L. Steinke, the son of Silas R. and Johannah (Peters) Steinke was born Aug. 29, 1919 in Alexandra, S.Dak. The family later moved to Belle Plaine in 1931 and he graduated from the Belle Plaine High School in 1937.

He married Margaret L. Stambaugh in Madison, Wis., Nov. 2, 1944. They left Belle Plaine in 1959 moving to rural Victor where they continued to farm until 1979. At that time they moved to rural Brooklyn where he remained until the time of his death.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau and attended the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. He was a devoted and loving husband and father.

He was preceded by his wife who died June 6, 1995, his parents, and a brother.

A son, Richard L. (Dick) Steinke, rural Brooklyn, survives.

The Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine is in charge of arrangements.
