Peter O. Stoaks, one of the pioneers of Poweshiek county, died on last Monday at Malcom, where for some years past, he has been making his home with a daughter. Mr. Stoaks had lived in the state of Iowa since 1850,a large part of the time in this locality. He was one of the successful farmers of the early day until advancing years compelled his retirement. He was 84 years of age. Many friends who grew to know him during his years of residence near Grinnell mourn his loss.
