Lorna Brummel, 77, of Rock Creek Lake near Kellogg, died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Keith Morrison, chaplain of Grinnell Regional Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in the Garrett Cemetery near Delta, Iowa.
The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.
Lorna was born on Dec. 18, 1935, in Montezuma to Arthur and Merna Chase Parkhurst. She was raised in Oskaloosa and attended Oskaloosa public schools.
On Sept. 26, 1953, she married Richard Brummel in Lancaster, Mo. The couple lived in Oskaloosa and Williamsburg before moving to Grinnell. She worked in the health care system at the Marengo Hospital and the Poweshiek County Home Health Service. In 1989, the couple moved to Rock Creek Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Curtis Brummel of Oskaloosa, Jeffery Brummel of Des Moines and Julie Owens of Grinnell; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one sister, Elinor Beach of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
