RITES HELD FOR MR. HAMILTON
William "Edward" Hamilton, 90, of Grinnell died Saturday evening, Aug. 30, at St. Francis Manor.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ewart Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata, interim pastor of the Newton Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Rebecca Wiley, and pallbearers were Ronald Arnaman, Wilbur Baltisberger, Daryl Goodlow, Keith Hamilton, Ed Hatcher and Randall Goeke. Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery at Ewart.
Memorials may be made to the Ewart Presbyterian Church and left at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The son of John and Ada Stillwell Hamilton, he was born on Jan. 14, 1896, near Ewart. He attended Pleasant No. 9 School and Montezuma High School.
On Dec. 10, 1924, he was married to Florence Jane McConnell at her parents' home in Pleasant Township. They farmed in the Ewart area until 1947 when they moved to Grinnell. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Ewart Presbyterian Church and had served on various church boards. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau.
There are no immediate survivors. He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, Lester; a brother in infancy; and one sister, Mae Farmer.
