CAROLYN LETA ORMER

Carolyn Leta Orme, 70, of Wheaton, Ill,, died June 7 at home. She was born Nov. 9, 1941 in Onawa, to Morton and Hazel James (deceased).

Carolyn was graduated from Montezuma High School in 1959. She is the daughter of Morton James who was the Poweshiek County Conservationist for many years. Carolyn had been battling cancer for two years.

Carolyn gave her life to Jesus at age 8 and sought to always honor Him. Having a passion for worship and sacred music, she received a Bachelor's of Sacred Music degree from Lincoln Christian University, Lincoln, Ill. She sang in or directed choirs for about 50 years; foremost of these a Wheaton women's singing group, the Elizabethians, which she directed for about 25 years. As a member of College Church in Wheaton, she served as a chairman of the music committee, was a member of the Board of Missions and directed the Missions' Missions Prayer Fellowship. Her strongest passion was being a homemaker - caring for her family.

She is survived by her husband, James Orme of Wheaton; children, David and Marianne Orme and their children Daniel and Jonathan of Wheaton, Ill.; Kevin and Sara Orme and their children Jordan, Kaia, Justin and Payton of Poplar, Wis.; Melanie and Leland Christenson and their children Cody, Cora, Devin, Derek, Judah, Jemma, Lindy and Carrie of Ashland, Wis. She is also survived by her sisters and their spouses: Roselyn and Darrel Shaver of Irmo, S.C.; Gwen and Robert Wright of Naperville, Ill.; and Marcelyn and Everett Peterson of Wheaton, Ill.
