DIED.

MRS. MILES CHAFEE.

Mrs. Miles Chafee, who has been failing gradually since the first of December passed away at 1:45 o'clock on Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Addie C. Walker, 927 High street. Mrs. Chafee would have been 87 years old had she lived until the second of next May. She had made her home in Grinnell since December of 1868 and was known and honored as one of Grinnell's noble women.

The funeral will be held from the home of Mrs. Walker at 3 o'clock on Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Chafee's other daughter, Mrs. Charles A. Taylor, and daughter, Mrs. William Springer, both of Evanston, Ill., are here and the son, Charles M. Chafee, is expected tomorrow from Billings, Montana.
