Young Physician Passes Away in Deer
Lodge, Montana.

Dr. Henry S. Edson died yesterday of pneumonia and meningitis at Deer Loge, Mont., wehere he has been engaged in the successful practice of medicine.The unexpected news which came by telegram yesterday afternoon was a blow to the many friends of one of Grinnell's oldest and best loved families. No particulars have been received aside from the telegram.

Henry was the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.K. Edson who for many years made their home in the "Edson House" across the street north from the post-office and now occupied by Phil Streck. Mr. Edson was one of Grinnell's pioneer educators, a man of high attainment and noble character and his wife was a leader in all the good works of Grinnell. Both have left a lasting influence for good on this community.

Henry's father died when he was a boy. His mother survives him and has been in Deer Lodge for some time. Though suffering from trouble which seriously effects her sight she is as courageous and as strong-hearted as ever. Henry attended the city schools and then went to college, graduating in 1913. He attended Rush Medical College and following a period as interne in Chicago and an extended period of army service as an officer in the medical corps he settled in Deer Lodge. He was married to Miss Mary Runkle, a Grinnell graduate in 1914, who with her infant daughter survives him.

Henry was an athlete while in college, being a member of the varsity football team. He was an active, likeable, able young man, well equipped in all respects for a life of notable service in the noble profession which he had chosen. His death is a sad blow to all who have know him and general sympathy goes out to the bereaved mother, wife and daughter.
