RITES SATURDAY FOR
MRS. ANNA CURRAN

Death came to Mrs. Anna Curran last Thursday at Mercy hospital in Iowa City where she had been hospitalized since February 1. Mrs. Curran, 82, had been in failing health for several months.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at nine o'clock at St. Patrick's church with the Rev. John T. Kennedy reading the requiem mass and preaching the funeral sermon.

Interment was in Calvary cemetery with Jack VerStraeten, Raphael Gallagher, Cyril Gallagher, Joseph Collum, Jr., Ernest Andes and Gerald Manatt serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Myrtle Ormiston and Mrs. W.P. Newman were in charge of flowers.

The daughter of Patrick Gallagher and Ellen Bohner Gallagher, Anna Sheila was born Feb. 14, 1883, in County Donegal, Ireland. At the age of 16 she came alone to the United States and arrived at the home of relatives near Brooklyn.

On Sept. 27, 1916, she was married to John Curran. The couple farmed near Brooklyn until 1950 when they retired and moved into town. Mr. Curran died in 1952.

Mrs. Curran leaves three children: Mrs. Martin (Eileen) Schmitz and John Curran of Brooklyn and Sister Mary Marjorie of Abilene, Tex. She also leaves four grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Nellie, and a brother, Charles, both living in Ireland.
